Sik brocade beginners' kit - Birka

This kit will allow you to make a brocade tablet weaving, patterns based on the Birka finds (8-10th century AD in Sweden).
This is ideal to get accustomed to the brocade technique with beautiful materials chosen and tested with care!
Available in 5 colours of naturally dyed silk.

Kits are made to order, please allow 2-5 days for preparation before shipping!

The kit contains (for a maximum warp length of 140cm):

4 x 30m bobbins of 60/2 silk for the warp
1 x 30m bobbin of 60/2 silk for the weft
1 x 30m bobbin of Filament silk for the brocade weft
1 x 10m metal thread to try!
1 brochure with explanations and diagrams

Please note that this kit doesn't contain tablets or weaving accessories, you will need a total of 19 tablets to make the warp and two small shuttles.

Prerequisites: you should of course have some experience in classical tablet-weaving. be aware that silk is not as elastic as wool if you haven't previously woven with silk.
